CANADIAN RAILWAY MEN RESENT WAGE CUT. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 18, 5.5 p.m.) MONTREAL, October 17. A threat to paralyse Canadian industry by a strike of 30,000 railwaymen of both systems, was averted when a conference of Unions and the railways to-day annouced that a conpromise had been reached. The trainmen had voted 10 to one for a strike against the second 10 per cent, wage cut. It Is understood that the men will accept a 5 per cent. cut.
