ST. SAVIOUR’S GUILD

ANNUAL REPORT. The forty-seventh annual report of the Guild of St. Saviour’s Orphanages presented to the annual meeting in Christchurch last evening, states that the worl. in the Homes was being carried on under the happiest conditions and the condition of the finances had Improved. For reasons of health Sister May found it necescary to retire from the pert of Matron of the Girls’ Home at Shirley, a position filled for a period of 16 years with conspicuous ability and with a wonderful display of care and affection for the children and those who worked with her. The Council had secured the services of Miss E. M. Edwards, and her capable management of the Home during the past few months gave them reason to believe that they were fortunate In the selection of the Matron. At the Boys’ Home, Tl.naru, Mr S. Capable management was reflected In the appearance of the children. When a generous and sympathetic public was responding to the urgent calls of the unemployed and other organisations we were not forgotten. The policy of funding our legacies has been continued and the endowment fund is steadily growing. Many economies have been effected and the condition of our accounts for the year is a credit to Mr A. G. S. Gibbs (secretary) and those who have worked with him. The Guild desires to express | again its great appreciation of the help c-.i’-n by those loyal friends to | who:;; efforts our su"eess Is largely
