RIFLE SHOOTING

TIMARU DEFENCE CLUB THE SEASON OPENED On Saturday afternoon the Timaru Defence Rifle Club held its opening shoot of the season. The day was fine with a sti. wind off the sea which later changed to nor’west. The trophy for the day was won by E. Chittock, 67 a young shot who only joined the Club on Saturday During the afternoon the club pr f on a match for women at 500 yards. There were 15 competitors nd the shooting was good, Miss P. Me/ ’ley getting 24 out of a possible 25. Th~ president, Mr W. Duncan, extended a welcome to all. He said he was very pleased to- see so many visitors present, especially women. The following were the results of the day’s shooting:—
