ST. ANDREWS
SCHOOL CONCERT. Something novel in the way of school concerts was stayed In the St. Andrews Public Hall on Thursday night, when a programme which included three children's plays was presented. All of the players were chosen from the junior classes, and the plays proved to be most enjoyable. The children spoke their lines well and clearly, and in a way that showed much promise. The first half of the programme was devoted to the children's items, the second half being a one-act play by members of the St. Andrews Dramatic Club. The programme was as follows: Children's play, "Darby and Joan” (Joan, Miss Doreen Pugh; Darby, Miss Rita Shea; Fairy, Miss Chris Turpie: and ballet girls); folk dance. Standard Six Pupils; dance, Miss Melva Johnston: children's play, “The Fairy Riddle" (Miss Mary Fitzgerald, Fairy; Miss Mary Cosgrove, Page Boy; Miss Allison Stowell, Girl; Miss Elvira Dellow, Tree; and ballet of toadstools); dance, Miss Natalie Wimsett: folk dance. Standard Six Girls: children’s play, "The Fairy and the Doll" (Miss Irene Wilkes, Fairy; Miss Aileen Grassy, Doll; Miss Elvira Dellow, Tree; and ballet of Fairies); dance. Miss Melda Woods and Eion Wimsett; pianoforte solo, Miss Nancy Toohey; action song, "The Sun Has Got His Hat On." One-act play, “The Proposal,” Miss G. Copland, Mrs C. H. S. Johnston, Mr Evan Bishop, Mr G. A. Wilkes, Mr W. E. Mills. The concert was followed by a most enjoyable dance and supper. The music for the concert was supplied by Miss Lois Dellow, and for the dance by Mrs H. L. Wimsett and Mr J. F. Turpie. Miss Barbara Gray played extras. Messrs E. Cosgrove and F. Stowell were masters of ceremonies.
