WOMEN’S TITLE IN AUSTRALIA. MISS KAY ENTERS SEMI-FINALS. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received September 5. 10.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 5. The quarter finals of the women’s championship of Australia resulted:— Miss B. Kemot (Victoria) defeated Mrs H. Dodgshun (New Zealand), two up and one to play. Miss Oliver Kay (New Zealand) defeated Miss B. Nankivell (New South Wales), three up and one to play. Miss B. Perry (Tasmania) defeated Miss B. Gaisford. (New Zealand), one up. Miss J. Hood Hammond (New South Wales) defeated Miss O. Lefebvre (New South Wales), three up and two to play. The surprise result was the defeat of Miss Gaisford, the New Zealand stylist. Before her game against Miss Kernot, the popular New Zealand player, Mi’s Dodgshun, received a cable informing her of the serious illness of her husband. Miss Kay played magnificently, her only weakness being a typical New Zealand fault in emerging from the sandpits. Miss Hammond’s defeat of Miss Lefebvre was a surprise. Although she played good golf, there were many comments passed by good judges, over the time taken for her shots.

Draw for Semi-Finals. The semi-finals draw for to-morrow is:— Miss Kernot versus Miss Kay. Miss Perry versus Miss Hammond.
