UNSEATED MAYOR RETURNED. By TeleeraDh —Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, June 23. Extraordinary interest was taken in the second mayoral election at Stratford to-day. The voting resulted;— J. W. McMillan 981 P. Thomson 717 Majority for McMillan, 264. At the election in May the same candidates polled an equal number of votes, Mr McMillan being appointed Mayor, on a toss of a coin. Mr McMillan’s first act was to dismiss the electrical engineer, streets engineer, parks curator, and several if the street staff. A petition was lodged against the election on various grounds, including irregularities at the counting of votes, and a new election was ordered. Mr Thomson served as Mayor 'or the term prior to the May election.
