SECOND WIN
WALLABIES DEFEAT WESTERN TRANSVAAL. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright CAPETOWN, June 7. The Wallabies defeated Western Transvaal by 20 to 3 at Potchefstroom. The Wallabies were more orthodox than in the opening game. They led 14—3 at half time, but the rugged Transvaalers showed a more spirited defence in the second half.
The All Blacks in 1928 defeated West Transvaal by 19 points to eight.
PROGRESS OF RUGBY. PROPOSED INVITATION TO ALL BLACKS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 8. The special writer on Rugby football in “The Sydney Morning Herald” says: “Rugby’s advance, instanced so strongly by the quality of new material to New South Wales, and the progress to other States, should be availed of by the game’s administrators. The opportunity to welcome an international team next season is golden, and negotiations entered into now to bring an All Black side over from New Zealand would not be regretted later.”
