FIRES
SUSPICIOUS OUTBREAKS IN NEW PLYMOUTH. INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, June 8. The fourth fire in unoccupied premises in New Plymouth in a fortnight occurred last night, a house in B. rrett Street being damaged. An alarm was received about 9.35 p.m., and the Brigade arrived to find flames issuing from the front door and windows. The seat of the fire was in the rear of the building, and little damage was done elsewhere. It appears that the outbreak originated in the back porch. A curious feature is that a passerby at 9.25 noticed nothing amiss, but shortly after 9.30 the rear of the building was burning fiercely. The fire adds one more to the long list of outbreaks in empty buildings and unoccupied dwellings that the Fire Brigade has been called upon to extinguish in the last two years. The Brigade is definitely of the opinion that an incendiarist is at work.
