RANFURLY SHIELD CHALLENGES. By Telegraph—Prest Association WELLINGTON, June 7. An application from Nelson for a tour this season of the bJddon Shield Area by a Maori All Black team was considered by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. On the motion of the chairman (Mr S. S. Dean), it was decided with regret, that the committee was unable to entertain the idea, but might consider it next season. Mr Dean said the Canterbury Union had advised that it had declined challenges for the Ranfurly Shield from Wellington and Waikato.. Regarding the question of special challenges the Union said it was of t.ie opinion that of the challenges accepted, the only one which could possibly be considered a special challenge was that from the King Country and asked for a ruling. Mr Dean said he did not think the New Zealand Union should commit itself at the moment, as it was not conversant with the rota. “If we give a decision without being in possession of the full facts we might be open to criticism later,” he said. “What they want us to say is that the King Country challenge is the only special challenge, but we do not know. I suggest that we ask Canterbury to place before us the terms under which the matches are being played.” This was agreed to. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. Old Boys. Seniors (v.
