TO PAY COSTS
WOMAN’S PUNISHMENT FOR SHOOTING. By Telegraph—P*-ess Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 8. At the Supreme Court, Myrtle Long, charged with shooting at a man with intent, was ordered to pay costs, £24, of the two trials, and enter into recognisance for £IOO to keep .the peace and come up for sentence if called upon within two years. Mr Justice MacGregor said he agreed with the recommendation of the jury to mercy. In ordinary circumstances such a serious offence would call for gaol for some years. In view of the extraordinarily, unique circumstances, he did not intend to deprive the prisoner of liberty.
