WEST END
RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Executive of the West End Ratepayers’ and Householders’ Association was held in the West School on Saturday evenmg, when there was a fair number of members. Mr J. E. Chiles (president) occupied the chair. Mr Chiles explained why the deputations appointed to wait on the Council at its last meeting regarding alterations at the baths, had not done so. It was decided to again apply to the Council to have the 11.15 a.m. ’bus on Wai-iti Road put back to 10.45 a.m, in order to enable passengers by the south express to connect with that train. A letter was read from the Town Clerk informing the Association that the works suggested for the estimates this year had been noted. Mr Bryan King wrote acknow'ledging receipt of proceeds of gala held on 25th February, for St. Saviour's. Several works -were also suggested for the Borough estimates, and it was decided to draw the attention of the Works Committee to several overgrown hedges in different parts of the district: to the unsatisfactory state of the footpath on the east side of Nile St., and to the condition of the sumps at its junction with Wai-iti Road. Mr A. Maxwell was appointed to sign orders for withdrawal of money from the Post Office Savings Bank, in conjunction -with the secretary, in place of Mr Bridgewater, now of Christchurch. It was decided that the secretary keep in touch with the Mayor, as to a suitable date for the deputation already appointed to attend at a Council meet ng in the near future.
