WIDE SCOPE IN UNITED STATES. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 8, 7.10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 7. President Roosevelt to-night outlined his ideas for a partnership between the Government and the agriculture industry and transportation. He said that measures would soon be proposed to give the industrial workers “a more fair wage return and prevent cutthroat competition and unduly long hours for labour, and at the same time encourage each industry and prevent over-production.” On the subject of inflation, President Roosevelt said that the powers about to be given him by Congress would be used when asked for, and if it may be necessary to accomplish the purpose of improved prices, credit and wages.
