H. Rushbrooke, general secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, who visited New Zealand last I October in connection with the Baptist Union in New Zealand Jubilee, has been elected president of the National Free Church Council at Great Britain. At an interval in the conference of the Federation of New Zealand Justices' Associations at Invercargill on Friday, Mr J. Darley, J.P., of Invercargill, who is 93 years old, | was Introduced to the delegates, and it was mentioned that as he I received his appointment on December 12, 1892. he had held office for | 41 years, and was probably the oldest living justice in the British Em- | pire. Mr David McFarlane, the ! past president, who was in the j chair, conveyed to Mr Darley the | congratulations of the visitors and expressed their pleasure at having him present at the conference dc- * liberations that day.
