FATAL EXPLOSION

FIRE EXTINGUISHER BURSTS. POSTAL CLERK SUCCUMBS. s e 3 By Telegraph—Press Association i HASTINGS, March 26. i Fatal injuries, caused by an exs plosion in a patent fire extinguisher, were sustained by a clerk named Wilr liam David Kenny (37), on Saturday o evening. t Deceased was on duty in the mailroom at Hastings Post Office, with 3 two other clerks, when a fire broke out -in a small shed at the rear of the s main building. The Fire Brigade was e summoned, but in the meantime the -i three men procured extinguishers. 3 Kenny bumped an extinguisher of the t soda acid type on the ground, apparently in an attempt to make it g work, as he thought it was blocked. A slight trickle of liquid had just i began to issue from it when there was a loud explosion and a spurt of flame. t Deceased was sitting on the floor at e the time when the explosion occurred. s He attempted to rise, but fell back _ obviously in great agony, s j FOOTBALL IN BRITAIN f ♦ 3 RESULTS IN ALL CODES. s s United Press Association—By Electric 1 Telegraph—Copyright y (Received March 26, 6.30 p.m.) t LONDON.
