LINESMAN KILLED

MYSTERIOUS ELECTROCUTION. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 26. The electrocuted body of a man was found early on Saturday afternoon by a patrol linesman at the base of a high tension power standard at Khandallah, a suburb of Wellington. The victim was identified as F. R. Dykes, a linesman employed at Napier by the hydro-electric branch of the Public Works Department, who was spending a holiday in Wellington. The body was discovered about half a mile north of Khandallah power station, to which a current of 100,000 volts flows from Mangahao. A tragic circumstance is that Dykes was married in Wellington eleven days ago. The time of his death is assumed to be early on Friday evening. Electric power in the city failed for about a minuute that evening, the reason for which could not be discovered, but now it is believed it was caused by the body coming in contact with the wires. It is not known why deceased was in the locality, which is barren and windswept.
