STOCK SALES. The first stock sale of the season was held in the saleyards on Tuesday. There was only a small entry, comprising 141 fat sheep and 42 store sheep. The prices received were on a par with those ruling at other centres. The following prices were realised:—s fat ewes at 4/6, 9 at 6/1, 4 fat wethers at 13/-, 9 at 12/4, 22 at 10/6. Stores — 14 wethers, 2-tooth, at 10/-. ECONOMICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Fairlie Economics Research Association was held in the Pipe Band room, Mr P. E. Neilson presiding over a good attendance. It was decided that until Easter, meetings be held monthly instead of fortnightly. Mr D. Barnes read three lectures from the correspondence course issued by the W.E.A., University of Otago. The lectures were entitled "Unemployment and Production," “Hobsonism and its Application,” and “Supply and Demand—is it Law or Anarchy?” and created a lengthy discussion. A further series of these lectures will be given at next meeting, the titles being "First Thoughts on Wages," "International World," and "Why Wages Will Come Dowtl"
