RADIUM REFINERY
OPERATIONS IN CANADA. British Official Wireless (Received December 23, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 22. At the end of the month a radium refinery plant, the only one in the British Empire will start operations in Ontario. Many tons of pitch have been brought there by aeroplane from the extremely rich deposits of the Great Bear Lake District in Northern Canada. The new process of radium extraction has given a high percentage of recovery and it is stated that great strides are being made in the employment of radium for non-operative surgery.
