LEATHER FROCKS

RETURN TO PRE-HISTORY. Women may now wrap themselves in sheep-skins and other leathers as did their prehistoric ancestors. At the opening of the International Shoe and Leather Fair at the Royal Agricultural Hall, Islington, there was a mannequin parade of dazzling creations for dining, dancing, business, and sport in each of which leather was the chief material. One outfit had coat, skirt, scarf, hat, and gloves in nigger-brown and rust suede, and a white crepe evening gown had a dainty cape of black velvet sheep-skin trimmed with white fur. Dresses and blouses, cut on fashionable lines and decorated as charmingly as any silk materials, were among the other leathern garments for smart wear. Leather hats, shaped cunningly in the style of the moment, were shown with leather tailored suits. Nappa, suede as soft and pliable as silk, kid, deerskin, chamois, and chrome leather were among the skins used for these latest fashions.
