CASUALTIES
RELIEF WORKER INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association GREYMOUTH, December 23. John Monaghan (39), a County relief worker, residing at Coal Creek, was injured at 4.20 p.m. at the Cobden end of the railway bridge, a locomotive cowcatcher striking his forehead. The driver of the engine saw him lying beside the line, but a rake of trucks prevented an immediate halt. Monaghan bled from the w T ound, but remained conscious. He was removed to hospital suffering from concussion. and it is feared that his condition is serious.
