CYCLONE STRIKES TOWN
BUILDINGS LIFTED BODILY EXTENSIVE DAMAGE REPORTED United Press Association—By Electrle Telegraph—Copyright BRISBANE, December 22. A terrific cyclone struck the town of Ilfracombe, unroofing practically every house. Telegraph posts were snapped off like stalks. A shop and two houses were lifted bodily into the air and blown away. Dashing from one house, a woman with a child in her arms, was forced to cling to a fence to prevent herself being carried away by the wind. Two chopping blocks were the only indication where a butcher’s shop stood before the gale. A one thousand gallon talk was whirled into the air and crashed through a kitchen wall a quarter of a mile away. Another tank of similar size was discovered two miles away.
