GOLD SHIPMENT
RECORD SINGLE CONSIGNMENT. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 22, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 22. “The Daily Mail” says that the largest single gold shipment which ever crossed the Atlantic is being carried in the White Star Company’s liner Majestic, which left Southampton for New York yesterday. It included big Anglo-French consignments, the total value being £7,000,000 sterling.
Armed police watched the loading to the ship’s strongroom, which is being specially guarded throughout the crossing.
