MARTYR TO SCIENCE
DEATH OF FAMOUS FRENCH RADIOLOGIST. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 22, 10.20 p.m.) PARIS, December 22. “His life long martyrdom in the cause of science,” was among the tributes paid to the memory of the great French radiologist, M. George Sharet, who died studying to the last, the effects of a disease on his own flesh contracted by a radium burn during the war time. He has since undergone many operations but continued the work of radium research. His sufferings seemed only a further incentive. After one of the severest operations, President Doumer visited the hospital and pinned the Cross of the Legion of Honour on his breast.
