IRISH POLICE CHIEF
DISMISSED WITHOUT EXPLANATION.
United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 21
The “Daily Mail’s” Dublin correspondent says that the Government dismissed, without explanation, Colonel David Neligan, head of the Detective Division of the Civic Guards.
Colonel Neligan was one of Michael Collins’s lieutenants against the British, and afterwards intelligence officer in the Free State army against Mr de Valera’s irregulars. Extremist Republicans dislike Colonel Neligan, and demanded his removal, and urged the disbandment of the Detective Division.
