The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Minister of Internal Affairs, was a passenger for the south by yesterday’s first express. Mr H. W. Rhodes, M.A., pf Ormond College, Universtiy of. Melbourne, has been appointed to the position of lecturer in English at Canterbury College, vice Dr. Helen Simpson. At yesterday’s meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board, reference was made by the chairman (Mr G. T. Dawson) to the death of Mr H. L. Tapley, ex-M-J\, a former Mayor of Dunedin, and a former chairman of the Otago Harbour Board. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased was carried in silence. The Board also carried a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr A. E. Farrow.
