ESCAPEE CAUGHT
INTO THE ARMS OF A POLICEMAN. By Telegraph— Press Association WHANGAREI, December 22. After being at liberty for a week, Allan Alfred Beehre, who escaped from the Whangarei lockup, where he was held on a commitment warrant, was re-captured last night at the Public Works camp, Titoki. The hut wherein he sought concealment was surrounded by police and in attempting to get away Beehre jumped through a window right into the arms of a constable. Charged this morning with being an incorrigible rogue, accused was sentenced to three, month’s hard labour, concurrent with fourteen days for default of the payment of a previous fine, and on an indictmnt for breach of a probation order he was convicted and discharged.
