WHALE OIL
PURCHASE OF ANTARCTIC PRODUCTION.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyrlghr (Received December 7, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 7. Unilever Limited have purchased the whole of the 1932-33 season’s production of whale oil, estimated to cost £3,500,000. The news is welcome, as last year many whaling companies were unable to negotiate sales, owing to overproduction in 1930-31. The price of oil during the present season is about £l3 per ton, which should yield the companies a small profit if the cat-ches in the Antarctic are up to the estimate.
