BURIED BUTTER AND CHEESE.
There is a kind of cheese that has to be buried for a period before it acquires its distinctive flavour. The same sort of thing was formerly done with butter in the Highlands of Scotland and in Ireland, and a wooden keg containing butter which had been buried in this way was recently discovered in Skye. Bananas have a long history. The ancient Egyptians are said to have eaten this fruit, and it was certainly known to the Persians, Greeks and Romans centuries ago.
