Mr R. A. Noedl, deaf aid specialist, sole representative in the Dominion for Messrs F. C. Rein and Son, London, is now visiting Timaru, and may be consulted at J. C. Oddie and Son, chemists.

The Peter Pan Dance Club have now resumed their dances after the hall has been given for charity functions. Patrons can be assured of the usual high standard dance to-night. Dress optional.

A noticeable feature of the weekend festivities is the ever increasing attendances at the Scottish Hall. Last Saturday a large crowd much enjoyed the many dances, which included novelty dances, won by Miss Davey, Mr Ford, and Miss H. G. Henderson. A similar attractive dance programme is promised for to-night.

A decision to have the postal district designation signs painted on street name-plates in the borough was made at a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council (says the “New Zealand Herald.”) The Mayor (Mr W. F. Stilwell) said a relief worker who was already engaged under No. 5 scheme in attending to name-plates would be able to paint the district signs at a very small extra cost to the council.

The secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department advises that mails which left Wellington on September d per “Makura,” via San Francisco, arrived in London on October 5.

The frequent comparisons made between boys of the present day with those of past years was referred to by Mr F. Martyn Renner, principal of Rongotai College at a Wellington College Old Boys’ reunion. “I believe," he said, “that the boy of to-day is every whit as capable physically and mentally as was the boy of 30 years ago, and that he has as fine a perception of the ideals of loyalty to his old school as we older old boys have. In fact, the free place system has been of inestimable value to New Zealand in raising the general intellectual level of the community, in producing a relatively sane and law-abiding democracy, and in extending the ideals of service into all the avenues of life.”
