FAIRLIE

FIRE BRIGADE. The monthly meeting of the Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the Brigade room. Fairlie. on Tuesday. There was a good muster of firemen rpesided over by the Captain. W. Close. The report for the month stated that there had been no alarms or fires, and the engine and plant were in good order. Nothing further had been done in the matter of installing the proposed siren at the south end of the township. It was decided to keep this matter before the County Council. The question of raising the present fire bell, with a view to increasing its efficiency, was discussed. It was thought that if the tower was raised about 5 feet, that the bell would be heard much better in all parts of the township, than it was at present. This matter also will be referred to the County Council.

The caretakers for the month were thanked for their services, and Firemen Searle and Gardner were appointed for the ensuing month.
