'damages for injuries. By Telegraph Press Association WELLINGTON. July 29. A jury awarded £347 4 7 special damages, and £325 general damages in a claim arising out of a collision at a Newtown intersection, wherein Mrs Irene Addis Smith was knocked down and injured by a car driven by Mrs Caroline Priscilla Purdie. Mr Justice MacGregor refrained from entering judgment for Mrs Smith in the meantime, pending argument on a non-suit point. BURGLARS PLEAD GUILTY. By Tel egrapn—Press Association WANGANUI, July 29. At the preliminary hearing of a number of burglary charges in Wanganui, extending from January to December last, Herbert Vivian Walkington Buttrey and Victor Robert Ward (labourers). pleaded guilty to several, and were committed for sentence. Thomas Butler, farmer, admitted two charges, and was also committed for sentence. ; Ward and Butler were allowed bail.
