HEDUCTIONS EXPLAINED. DISABLED PENSIONERS NOT AFFECTED. By Telegraph—Pres** Assoc .tMon WELLINGTON. April 10. Apprehension caused through interpretations of the provisions of the National Expenditure Adjustment Bill relating to war pensions reductions, prompted the issue of an official statement on the Government proposals. “The Bill provides for a reduction of I7i per cent, in the pensions of dependents and guardians of children, with the exceptipn of pensions to the widows, children, and widowed mothers of deceased members of the Forces, whose pensions are retained at the present rate,” the statement reads. “The disablement pension of ex-sol-diers is not affected by these reduc-ic-ns, which apply mainly to their wives, children, and parents. In addiion to disablement pensions of ex.soldiers, and ordinary pensions of war widows, their children, and widowed mothers of deceased members of the Forces, there are payable economic pensions. In these classes, the exoldiers economic pension of 307weekly, which was reduced to 277weekly since June Ist,: 1931, is further seduced to 21/- weekly; and the economic pension of a widow of 107weekly for the .first child, plus 2/6 weekly for each additional child, is reduced to 87- weekly, plus 27- weekly. A widowed mother of a deceased member of tfie Forces may receive the ecolomic pension of 207- weekly, in addition to. her ordinary pension, and this jconomic pension is reduced to 167weekly.’
