BASIC WAGE.
VARIATION IN AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright CANBERRA, January 27. As a result of the quarterly adjustment of the basic wages, which are based on the retail price index for food, the New South Wales rate will bo 2/- lower, and Western Australia 1/6 lower; Tasmania 6d higher. The other States are unchanged. The new rates will be as follows:
These rates are subject to the 10 per cent reduction made by the Arbitration Court.
