January 26. < The South Africans defeated South Australia by seven wickets and one run. ; Heme Team’s Stubborn Effort. South Australia displayed a stubborn j tail-end, Grimmett advancing from 38 to 63. He batted 119 minutes and j scored two fours and one five. The Africans tried five bowlers in J three-quarters of an hour, Balaskas taking the last two wickets. Africa required 116 to win. Africa’s Sprint Effort. South A ustralia was hopeful when j Christy was clean bowled by Wall in j the first over. Taylor, however, alter- j ed the complexion of the game by a superb chanceless innings. He showed | scant respect for Grimmett. His off ! drives were revelations of artistic batting. The innings lasted 88 minutes. He hit nine fours.
