FALL IN AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, January 26. The annual labour report by the Commonwealth Statistician shows a big fall in the cost of living in Australia since 1929. The report shows that the retail price for groceries on an average was 14 per cent cheaper in 1930 than in 1929, dairy produce 9 per cent lower, meat 6 per cent down. The fell continued Into 1931, and had increased to over 20 per cent for food in June. The average nominal weekly wage In Australia was 101/5 for adult males, and 54/2 for adult females at September, 1929. Since thdh wages declined steadily. At the end of 1930 the corresponding rates were 96/9 and 53/7 per week.
