NOTES ON PLAY. Last Saturday was the last day of the basketball competition. High School Old Girls’ A team won the A Grade competition with Technical College and High School Old Girls’ B tying for second place. In the B Grade, Technical College and Baptist tied for first place, and in the play-off Technical College, won by the narrow margin of one goal. This game was played on Saturday, and it was vex’y keenly contested. The following are comments. Y.W.C.A. 14 v. Technical Old Girls 3. This was an even game. The passing in both teams was erratic, and many opportunities were lost because of this. In the Y.W.C.A. team J. Macdonald played her usual steady game. M. Eliot also piayed well. She is endeavouring to overcome her fault of moving while in possession of the ball. The defences were all good, although they still overguard. For Technical Old Girls’, N. Pearce was decidedly the best. She was well supported by M. Crossman. .High Sohool Old Girls A 13 v. High. School Old Girls B 9. This was a good game, and bath teams played well. The combination of the A team, however, was superior to that of the B team. In the A team, V. Whitehouse played her usual strong game. N. Buckle performed excellently, her shooting and basework being a great asset to the team. She was well supported by D. Johnston, who played steadily. The defences also played well. For the B team D. Hardy and D. Andrews were the best. Others who showed to advantage were N. McNab and D. Patchett. Both High School Old Girls’ teams, with M. Crisp, J. Macdonald, N. Pearce and M Crossman are to practice at the Bay on Saturday at 2.30.
