MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The weekly shoot of the Point Miniature Rifle Club took place on Monday when the first round of the “Herald” Shield was fired. In this, the Club’s best men failed to shoot up to form. In a trophy shoot, C. Thoreau proved the winner, putting on three possibles and a 78. R. Welch was runner-up. A return game was played at the District High School grounds between the School team and the Young Ladies’ Club. The Young Ladles’ were a much improved combination and had an easy victory by 15 points to 3, thus making honours easy. A third meeting will decide the rubber. FOOTBALL. Pleasant Points teams for Saturday are:— Juniors (v. Pareora, at School Park No. 2.45) —Robb, Cartwright, Smith (2), Gliddon (3), Arras (3), Munro, Halstead, Saunders, Ley, Cunningham, Bishop, Kappley, Gould, Keane, Johnson, Boyd, Lienert, Waugh, Trapski.
