CLUB NOTES. (By “Acceleration”). CLUB RUN. The Club run on the Sunday before Easter week to Mi*. E. A. Vincent's property at Kingsdown was an unqualified success. Mr. Vincent is the patron of the Club, and has for some years past taken a great interest in all the Club’s activities, both socially and in the competitive events organised by the Committee. The Club run to Mr. Vincent’s farm was by special invitation, and needless to say the Club members turned out in full force. Boiling water and all the necessary ingredients for tea-mak-ing were kindly provided by Mi*. Vincent, as well as the free use of one of his fine paddocks in which a sports programme was held. The principal events of the day were the acceleration and flexibility tests, record entries being received for each of these classes. A miniature T.T. race was also staged. the performances of the riders receiving unstinted applause from the

large crowd of spectators, who were present. The the conclusion of the sports, Mr. N. J. Young, secretary of the Club, in the absence of the president, Mr. R. S. Thompson, in a brief speech thanked Mr. and Mrs. Vincent for their invitation to their farm, and assured them that everyone present had enjoyed themselves to the utmust. Three cheers were then given for Mr. and Mrs. Vincent and family. In reply, Mr. Vincent said that he hoped that the run would become an annual affair and that he and Mrs. Vincent enjoyed having the members of the Club as their guests as much as the boys enjoyed being there. Mr. J. H. Howden also spoke, thanking Mr. Vincent for his kindness and the Club members for the very enjoyable day’s entertainment. The following were the the winners of the various events:— Flexibility Test T. Probyn (Triumph) 1, J. Howden (Ariel) 2, T. Stoddart (A.J.S.) 3. Acceleration Test (O.H.V. Class)—T. King (S’beam) 1, B. Lovegrove (Norton) 2, T. Stoddart (A.J.S.) 3. Side Valve Class —R. Lawn (New Hudson) 1, T. Probyn (Triumph) 2, C. Harper (8.5. A.) 3. Miniature T.T.—B. Lovegrove (ls[orton) 1, T. King (S’beam) 2, N. J. Young (Norton) 3. WAKEFIELD CUP. This cup, for the rider who gains the highest aggregate score in all the events during the year, is competed for by private owners only and is a great incentive to riders to turn out to all Club events in an effort to add a few more points to their individual scores. The following are the placing up to date, exclusive of the benefit grass track meeting and the Fairview Gala sports:—T. King 63 points, B. Lovegrove 35 points, K. Vincent 24£ points, J. H. Howden 20£ points, F. Cross 17 points, J. B. Rodgers 12£ points, T, Probyn 11 points, A. Hall 11 points, C. Patrick 10 points, J. Roddick 10 points. Several other riders are in a cluster some distance below the figures given above, and with the few events remaining on the programme they have little chance of catching the leaders. OCCASIONAL COMMENTS. The road through to Invercargill is at present in good order, except for a stretch of bad pot-holes near Waikouaiti. The reverse is the case with the Timaru-Christchurch road, which is reported to be in a very bad state. The Southland M.C.C. have a splendid little film camera and projector with which they take films of club events, and show them to crowded houses at the club’s social functions.
