WINCHESTER.
LADIES’ RIFLE CLUB. The first annual meeting of the Winchester Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club was held in the Library on Thursday evening. Mr R. Maddren presided over a fair attendance. Mrs W. E. Knight, hon. secretary, presented the first annual report and balance sheet. The report stated that the club had had a very successful season. They had held twenty shoots, and twenty trophies were competed for. The shooting during the season was very satisfactory. The club had purchased two new rifles and accesosries. Two euchre socials were held, and the results were very satisfactory. The season was brought to a close with a grand united ball and presentation of trophies. The Club thanked all those who had given trophies and cash donations, and all those who had assisted the club in any way (especially Mr H. J. Hopkins for coaching the Club), and Mr P. Surridge for his kindly assistance and advice, Mr L. H. Orbell (auditor), the Men’s Miniature Club for the use of their rifles till the Ladies’ Club had purchased new ones, and also for the use of their equipment, and the very valuable help they had given generally, and to the Football Club for the use of the shed and lights. The credit balance was shown as £4 13/5. On the motion of Mr Maddren and Mrs Knight, the report and balance sheet were adopted. Mrs Knight thanked the committee for their help during the past season. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr R. Madren; vice-presi-dents, Mrs Stone-Wigg, Mrs F. South, Messrs L. H. Orbell, J. M. Stickings, H. J. Hopkins, P. Surridge, T. H. Langford, W. J. Moore, T. Harrison, J. A. Paterson, J. C. South, D. Alexander; captain, Mr H. J. Hopkins; vice-cap-tain, Mrs A. T. De Renzy; coach, Mr Hopkins; handicapper, Mrs H. J. Hopkins; selector, Mr Hopkins; judge of targets, Mrs W. E. Knight; hon. secretary, Mrs W. E. Knight; committee, Mrs A. T. De Renzy, Mrs H. J. Hopkins, Mrs N. G. South. Misses Molly and Joan De Renzy and R. South with power to add. The subscription for this season was fixed for 4/-. It was decided to hold a euchre social and dance, the ladies to make final arrangements in regard to the supper and music.
