SECRETARY FOR LANDS.
RETIREMENT AGREED TO. By Telegraph—Press Associative WELLINGTON, April 9. The Minister of Lands announced to-day that he had consented to the retirement of Mr J. B. Thompson, C.8.E., from the position of Undersecretary of Lands, as from the end of the present month. The Minister said Mr Thompson had made a request to be allowed to retire, and in view of the fact that he had completed over forty years of service as officer of the State, and had held a particularly onerous position during the past nine years, he had signified his consent.
