ALL BLACK EX-CAPTAIN. BUSINESS TRIP TO ENGLAND. By TttUfraph — Pres* Assool. lion WELLINGTON, April 9. Mr C. G. Porter’s plans regarding a trip abroad were altered after his arrival at Auckland. It was the ex All Black captain’s intention to proceed to Canada. He cancelled his passage from Auckland booked by the Talnui, and will leave for Wellington to-morrow for England. Porter states that he has no intention of again playing football, although he will be a keen follower of the game He is turning his attention to business matters, and it is solely on this account that he is making a trip abroad. He proposes to spend some time in England, and then visit Canada. A statement was published recently as follows:—“It will come as a surprise to many people to learn that C. G. Porter, the famous All Black footballer, has left New Zealand. He departed recently and his future movements are not known. It is rumoured that he will settle in Vancouver.” CANTERBURY UNION. NEW RULES ADOPTED. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. A special general meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Fooball Union was held last evening for the purpose of considering the revised rules suggested by the Management Committee. Competition, classification and permit rules, on lines previously published, with certain amendments, were adopted. There was a small attendance of delegates. The president, Mr A. E. M’Phail, was in the chair. The withdrawal of the dispensations granted to New Zealand by the English Rugby Union was another matter discussed. Both the chairman and Mr S. F. Wilson spoke stating that they saw no other course than to fall in line with the instruction. There could be no question of separation from the English Union. Mr T. Milliken moved that the New Zealand Rugby Union be asked to make representations that the dispensations previously in force, such as the kick into touch, be restored by the International Board. This, he said, was not making a protest, but merely expressing an opinion. Mr J. K. Moloney seconded the motion. He said there was no doubt that to some extent the New Zealand Union was being dragooned into accepting the English ruling. He thought it time more consideration was given to the players. In obeying the dictates New Zealand was sacrificing something vastly important to her. Mr Wilson said that they might as well hanker after the moon. He disapproved of the motion. He did not think the new rules had brightened up the game. It depended entirely on the players. He did not think the junior players, particularly, had shown any improvement. The players had defeated the object. The motion was carried. A recommendation was also made to the New Zealand Union that the New South Wales Union be written to asking that they make similar application. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. STAR.. Seniors (v.
