HABITS OF FISH.
To the Editor of the " Tlmaru Herald." ; sir,—Since reading my first letter in , print. I have been speaking to an employee in the Timaru Post Office, who has spent a good many years in fish culture work, and he informs me that ! he has noticed a good many different- ■ ly shaped young fishes amongst the 5 whitebait, he has had under obserE vation. He states that he is quite sure ' they were young eels; also that this great difference in shape, etc., was vividly marked even when the eels - were no thicker than a needle in shape v and age. So we can now consider this e subject closed. —I am, etc., OBSERVER.
