AIR MAIL.
FIRST SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electrle Telegraph—Copyright (Received April 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 4. The first Australian air mail left Croydon at 8.30 a.m. to-day. The air mail carried a total of 50,000 letters, 35,000 being the ordinary weekly mail for India and Central Africa, and the remaining 15,000, being the first consignment for Australia, which is considered a splendid response for the public showing a national interest in the experiment.
