MONTHLY MEETING. The following delegate-; were pre- ! sented at the monthly meeting of the Workers’ Educational Association :■—Mr j R. Guinness (president), Mesdames Mirams, McLintoch and Mathews, ! Misses Peterson and Broadhurst, : Messrs Chapman, Mofflt, Averis, Donaldson, Steward, Horlock, Koller, Odell, Jones and Griffiths. The chairman welcomed Mj- H MofTit, j as the new delegate from the “Star | of Canterbury Lodge.” Correspondence was received from ; the Teachers’ Institute and Star of j Canterbury Lodge, appointing Messrs Campbell and Mofflt as respective dele- j gates. Mr Geo. Manning, general secretary, wrote making final arrangements with the local tutors re the commencement of the classes for this session, and stating that the tutors had agreed to carry on with the classes no matter what, financial arrangements were marie The Timaru Labour Party wrote en closing affUliation fee. It was decided to send the following motion of appreciation to Rev. Olarl-stone-Hughes, 8.A., Mr P. W. Campbell. M.A., and Mr W. J. Scott, M A., tutors of the “Psychology,” “Literature” and Economics classes for 1031: “That this Committee appreciates very much tickind offer of the tutors of the thr*-: classes in Timaru for gratuitous servi--in the meantime for this session, in view of the fact that at present there is no salary guaranteed.” Two new vice-presidents were appointed—Miss P. Broadhurst and Mr E. W. Jones. It was decided to again hold monthly public lectures this year, and a com- ; mittee consisting of the president, Mrs j Mirams, Miss Broadhurst, Messrs Stew- ; art, Odell, Koller and Griffiths, was ap- j pointed to deal with the lectures. It was resolved that financial appeals . again be sent out this year, and the ; president and secretary were appointed i to draw up the same. A strong social Committee was set up to arrange for an initial social on the 18th, to provide a good commencement for the classes. The tutors were to be asked to be present to briefly outline their programmes as the classes would commence the fourth week of 1 this month, the Committee having drawn up a good programme. Accounts amounting to £7/9/- were j passed for payment.
