London’s telephone girls answer calls in 6.3 seconds, on an average. Shipmates of Lord and Lady BadenPowell are all agreed that the distinguished pair are very charming people to travel with. They were certainly the most energetic pair on board; both were up at 5.30 every norning at work on Lord BadenPowell’s book. The Chief Scout adores hildren and he also joined in all the leek sports, and “led the pack” in the treasure hunt.

One of the smaller apartments at 3uckingham Palace which is sometimes shown by the Queen to her friends is the china room, where the walls are lined with plates, dishes, cups and saucers from the many rare and antique porcelain services in the possession of the King and Queen. These are arranged in panel formation in cases, which can be unlocked for periodical washing. The value of this china is so great that the experts are locked in the china room when washing the pieces. When it is a question of which service shall be used for a State banquet or a tea-party to foreign visitors, or the little dinners the King and Queen give to their friends and relatives, the Queen herself usually goes to the china room and makes the decision.
