PROFESSOR TO PAY.
MAGISTRATE AWARDS MAINTENANCE. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. March 21. David Richards, retired University professor is to pay his wife, Hinemoa Corelli Charlotte Richards, solicitor of the Supreme Court. £9 per week for maintenance, and £SO for past maintenance. This is the decision of the Magistrate, Mr McNeil, who gave reserved Judgment to-day on the claim of the wife for maintenance, on the grounds of persistent cruelty. Petitioner was granted custody of a child, and defendant was ordered to enter into a bond of £2OO with the Public Trustee that the order will be complied witl'4 Thirty guineas costs were allowed tc 3 petitioners. Mr Mazengarb, solicitor for the defendant, said an appeal is likely.
