AWAPUNI NOTES. * By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N.. March 20. There was glorious weather for training operations at Awapunl this morning and every prospect of similar conditions to-morrow, with a hard track. While it was an off morning for local horses, some visitors were speeded up. but the majority were restricted to short sprints. Wallaruh ran home from the three furlong post on the plough in 42sec. Limerick jumped off at the seven furlong post on the plough, picking up Shatter at the end of a furlong. Limerick ran the first three furlongs in 39sec, five in lmin 7sec. and the full distance in lmin 32sec. The old champion galloped very freely and was going well at the finish. Full Feather had Cricket Bat as a partner over half a mile on the plough which took 52sec, the last three furlongs being run in 38 2-ssec. Royal Parade and Shrewd left five furlongs on the plough behind in lmin 6 l-ssec, both moving attractively. Rapallo and Chrysology recorded a good effort by running five furlongs on the plough in lmin 5 l-ssec. High Faultin’, with a light-weight in the saddle, was partnered by Laughing Prince, with his trainer up, over seven furlongs on the plough. They began slowly, the first tw'o taking 26 1-lsec, but were going well at the finish, completing their task in lmin l-ssec. Laughing Prince, who had the worst of the weights and the outside running was not extended at the close. White Fang held a slight advantage over My Own at the close of five furlongs on the outside of the course proper, the time being lmin 44sec. While White Fang appeared to be doing It comfortably, it was a very fair effort on the part of his companion in holding to the sprinter. Richborough, View Halloo, High Comedy and Cypress jumped away somewhat raggedly from the four-fur-long post on the course proper. The first two were together at the finish, taking 51 2-ssec. Refresher, who had the advantage in the weights, was travelling better than Puriri Park after running half a mile on the plough in 51 3-ssec. Neither King March nor Richfield were doing their best when they ran five furlongs on the plough in lmin 7 3-ssec.

After breakfast, Nightmarch ran five furlongs the reverse way on the plough. T*ie Awapunl Cup candidate left the first three furlongs behind in 41 sec and completed his effort in lmin 5 3-ssec. The Night Raid horse looks a picture. True Shaft slipped over three furlongs on the plough in 39 2-ssec.

Saltpot secured the best of the jumpout in a gallop with Kozan, but the latter was almost on terms at the post, after running lmin 54sec for five furlongs on the plough. Cessation left the first three furlongs on the plough behind in 41 l-ssec and went on to complete six furlongs in lmin 22 l-ssec. Eaglet and Bronze Eagle have been scratched for their second day engagements. TO-DAY’S ACCEPTANCES* MANAWATU RACING CLUB. Advice has been received by the Auckland Trotting Club that the dates, April 27 and 29, applied for to hold a meeting at Alexandra Park in aid of the Earthquake Relief Fund, cannot be granted. As there are no other dates suitable, the committee will cancel the meeting. The refusal of the dates was brought about by a protest received from the Cambridge Trotting Club against the Relief meeting beingheld on April 27 and 29, the country club taking up the attitude that as it raced on May 2, the Relief meeting would affect its fixture.
