JOB DECLARED “BLACK.”
UNDER NO. 5 SCHEME. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 20. The whole of the men engaged in excavation work at the Campanile site ceased work at noon. The job was ; declared “black,” and this has been j reported to the Alliance of Labour and to the Trades and Labour Council, j Relief workers are appealed to not to ' go near the job. The reason for the strike is that as the work is being done under the Unemployment Board's No. 5 scheme, it is contended that this is an open and flagrant ■ breach of the general labourers' award.
