Erection Of Memorial Hall. NEW ZEALANDERS COMMEMORATED. United Press Association—Bv Electrl* Telegraph—Copyrleht (Received March 20. 7.50 p.m.) LONDON. March 20. Foui* hundred gallant Colonials were among those commemorated when Colonel Lionel James, the Regiment’s last Colonel, laid the foundation stone of King Edward’s Horse Hall at the Imperial Service College, Windsor. Colonel James recalled the Regiment’s admirable war record, and said that at one juncture the only troops at Yyres between the Germans, who were surging on, and the Channel ports were four hundred of King Edward’s Horse, who withstood the onslaughts for eight hours. The Regiment originally was yeomanry, called the King's Colonials, and was organised as King Edward's Horse shortly before the war, containing four squadrons representing the Dominions, and including Australians and New Zealanders. the last of whom supplied a majority of the four hundred above named, most of whom laid down their lives to prevent the enemy breaking through.
