SERIOUS FLOODS.
CLOUDBURST IN N.S.W. United Press Association—By Electric Tolegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, March 20. A cloudburst at Alderthan, In the Riverina District, flooded a large area to a depth of six feet in the neighbourhood of Bygoo and Mirool. Creeks are swollen for 20 miles. Residents fear that the southern portion of the town will be washed away. To-day they are refuging on the northern heights. No lives have been lost, but the damage is extensive. Trains are at a standstill. Farmers are concerned for the safety of the railway shed, filled with many thousands of sacks of wheat. If water enters they will lose the fruits of a whole season’s work.

The flood waters at Ardelthan, which rose ten feet in two hours, receded today, leaving behind banks of silt in the homes. The wheat stores escaped damage.
