MARRIED WOMEN.
QUESTION OF NATIONALITY. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 17. A deputation including the women members of Parliament and representatives of all parties was received by the Foreign Secretary, Mr Arthur Henderson, and the Under-Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Alfred Short. The deputation asked the Government to facilitate the passage of the Nationality of Married Women Bill. The Foreign Secretary said that the Government fully sympathised with the principle that women should not be required to change their nationality on marriage without their consent. He pointed out. that the League Council, last January, decided that the whole question of the nationality of married women should be placed on the agenda for the next meeting of the Assembly. He expressed the hope that an international agreement on the question would be reached. If substantial progress was not made at Geneva, Mr Henderson suggested that women’s organisations should, after the Assembly meeting, request the Governmnet to introduce legislation.
